About Jason Sawtelle
Creative Director · Social, Digital & Integrated Campaigns
I build teams and creative systems that turn ideas into memorable work. Over more than 20 years, I’ve worked across agency and in-house settings, leading social, digital, email, video, and motion creative for entertainment, brands, and digital media.
My work is grounded in a simple idea: strong creative starts with understanding the story, the audience, and the people making the work. From there, I help teams turn a campaign goal into clear, platform-ready creative.
Selected work
At Peacock, I led the in-house organic social creative team and partnered with campaign, brand, sports, film, and franchise leads. Across TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube, our single-title and brand work helped grow the audience to 5 million followers. I also managed the agency-of-record creative team producing dozens of video assets each month. Peacock’s social entertainment work was named a 2024 Webby Awards Honoree. See Peacock campaigns.
At Showtime, I led a 10-person digital creative team spanning art direction, design, and copywriting. I streamlined templates and workflows across email, web, social, display, and partner platforms, and expanded in-house production as part of a $3 million cost-saving initiative. Workforce optimization delivered $150,000 in year-over-year savings. I also directed launch creative for Queer to Stay, Showtime’s partnership with the Human Rights Campaign supporting LGBTQ+ small businesses. See Showtime campaigns.
At Rippaverse, I lead social strategy, content, and community management for Rippaverse and Rippasend across X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Discord. I shape platform-specific storytelling and help build an active community around the brands. See Rippaverse work.
Earlier, as Creative Director at Brigade Marketing, I mentored a multidisciplinary team of 12 and helped scale production across 25 accounts totaling $5 million in annual recurring revenue. My studio clients included CBS Television and Sony, alongside ABC, Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros., and Universal Pictures. The Universal Pictures campaigns for Furious 7 and The Purge received a Bronze Clio and a Shorty Award, respectively.
How I lead
I set a clear creative direction, give people room to do their best work, and build practical processes that help a team deliver consistently. I’m comfortable moving between the big picture and the details: shaping a campaign idea, reviewing a cut, refining a design system, or aligning partners around the next decision.
My background in animation and visual storytelling informs how I think about pace, image, type, and movement. I work across social and digital campaigns, email, video, and motion, with hands-on experience in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere.
AI in creative
I explore generative AI as part of the creative process, from early concepts and visual development to production workflows. I work with tools including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, and Runway, choosing them to suit the task. Creative judgment, brand standards, and human review stay central to the work.
